Mission
Our mission is to partner with parents to inspire and nurture each child to embrace their own uniqueness, natural curiosity and self-confidence by providing a safe and stimulating environment that encourages a lifelong passion of discovery and learning.
Vision
The Learning Nest exists to provide each student a unique blend of fun and learning in an encouraging and nurturing environment. Our focus is to provide stimulating early learning experiences which promotes each child’s social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.
Philosophy
Our philosophy is rooted in the well-balanced development of the “whole child” promoting their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth. We believe in the promise and individuality of each child and programs that offer sufficient structure for security, yet enough freedom for creativity. We believe that children learn best through a balanced combination of hands-on exploration, real life lessons, self and directed play, and by a number of teachers directed experiences. Our highly educated and nurturing teachers will provide endless age-appropriate opportunities for children to discover, ask questions and explore through mind stimulated experiences that their teachers carefully select as part of their daily curriculum. The curriculum is designed to provide a variety of learning experiences which helps develop and strengthen new and exciting skills so each child can reach their full potential. By encouraging each child to develop the independence and skills necessary to be self-sufficient in their future as a student, child and peer.
About Us
Marissa and Dave Scott got married and bought a house in the Denver, Highlands area in 2013. Soon after their two children Camden and Nora joined their household, they realized the neighborhood was in desperate need of more quality early child education and set their dream of owning their own school into motion. The Learning Nest was founded in October of 2020.
Here at The Learning Nest, we are parents so we understand the hard work you’ve put into raising, nurturing and shaping your child into one of the adults who will change the world of tomorrow. That’s why we offer a curriculum which perfectly complements your loving home with an educational environment that enriches your child in equal measure with your nurturing.
We are a small, but powerful team that support a network of talented teachers and caregivers who bring high quality early childhood learning to the Denver Highlands. We consider ourselves an extension of your family. A family of educators, trusted caregivers, and committed teachers that parents lean on daily to love and guide their child.
The Scott Family is extremely proud and honored to be a part of the family that helps raise a child together, with our caring and qualified teachers, we are dedicated to the development of each and every child.
Meet the Staff
Marissa Scott
School Owner
Marissa was born and raised in Troy, MI, after obtaining her B.A in Business Communications and Child Psychology from Western Michigan University she relocated to Denver, CO. Leaving behind her close knit family, she set off after her lifelong love of learning and exploring the outdoors. It wasn’t until she had her first child Camden that she felt pushed toward the administration side of childcare and focusing on owning her own family run school that she would be proud to send her own children to. It was at this time that she began to refocus her efforts on the education of young children. Marissa found it fascinating growing alongside Camden and eventually Nora, them as little people, and her as a mom. When the time came to enroll them in school, she decided creating The Learning Nest and sharing her passion for learning and exploring was the only option.
Sherri Seirmarco
Executive Director
I started my career in New Hampshire at a Head Start and after falling in love with the mountains of Colorado, I took up residency in Summit County. I worked at a preschool for 7 years in Breckinridge, CO and then another 7 years in Dillon, CO and although I loved my mountain life I decided Denver was where I wanted to put my permanent roots down. Before my time here at The Learning Nest I was a director in Park Hill for you guessed it, 7 years. While enjoying down time you can usually find me enjoying friends, playing with “Gus” my Bernese Mountain Dog, watching the Giants (hopefully win) in football or enjoying a nice trip somewhere.

The Preschool Room is a perfect place for me. I get to do many of the things that I love; reading (books may be a little different), art (I love fiber but contruction paper works too), painting (may be a bit messier at school) and drawning (I promise you can actually telll what my stuff looks like). I’m lucky, many people get to enjoy things in their personal life at work
